Many people say that when they visited the impressive Colosseum or Coliseum (originally the Flavian Amphitheatre) in Rome, Italy, they felt a powerful energy floating in the air. In this magnificent roman construction many spectators had a great time watching games and shows, but also many people lost their life.

The roman gladiators came from many different backgrounds. They were all professional fighters trained at the “ad ludum gladiatorium” (gladiator school). The gladiators had to swear an oath and follow a very hard training programme. They were taught how to use weapons, how to fight making aesthetically pleasing movements and even how to die. The legend says that the Roman Emperor Caligula (assassinated by his own guards and supposedly a cruel insane tyrant) used to force his enemies or even people he just didn’t like to fight as gladiators.
